Hello All,

This Post is just a CONTINUATION OF THIS NEW ALTERNATED COMMUTATION METHOD, with previous Transitions suppressed, where Q1 & Q2 were connected in PARALLEL is just "History"...

As here I will be showing just THREE STEPS GRAPHICALLY:

• Q1 ON, Q3 ON, Q2 OFF
• DEAD TIME, just Q3 ON
• Q1 OFF, Q3 ON, Q2 ON

These Steps will keep repeating over and over...for the FOUR CYCLES of completion of ONE REVOLUTION...

STEP1: Q1 ON

According to the positioning of the Q1 RED Brush (down at approx 5:00 O'Clock), it would be closing circuit of Q1, turning ON Q1 COIL (red coil on LEFT)
Now, Q2 BRUSH (Blue) is also at another 'Q1' RED Contact at 180 degrees, However, NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN as Q2 Positive will NOT find a way to close circuit with Negative from PSU-Q1
Therefore, Q2 IS OFF here (GREY RIGHT COIL on image).
Q3 is ON (GREEN CENTER COIL)

STEP 2: DEAD TIME

So, BRUSHES following the Rotation 'R' Arrow (CW)...
BOTH END COILS Q1 & Q2 ARE OFF HERE...since BOTH BRUSHES are hitting a 'NO CONTACT' Element.
ONLY Q3 Coil is ON (Green Coil) Keeping Main Center Magnetic Field Pressures as same orientation and "Alive".

STEP 3: Q2 ON

Following Rotation Sense here...

Q2 (Blue) BRUSH has made contact with Q2 (Blue) Element at Commutator, therefore CLOSING CIRCUIT of Q2, therefore:
Q2 IS ON (BLUE COIL AT RIGHT)
Q3 IS ON (GREEN CENTER COIL )
Q1 BRUSH (Red) is making FULL CONTACT with a Q2 (Blue) Element, however, NOTHING HAPPENS HERE, THEREFORE:
Q1 IS OFF (GREY COIL LEFT) 

HERE CONCLUDES A CYCLE.

And so these Steps repeat over and over...Next, Q1 & Q2 would enter another Dead Time...according to Rotation "R".

Then the other Cycle Starts on Q1 ON...

Q3 GREEN CENTER COIL would be ON at ALL TIMES, this Center Coil will keep Field 'alive', without the need to OVERLAP any steps.

I believe this is a MUCH CLEANER SEQUENCING METHOD, as here we should not have ANY SPIKES, as ANY Current rises...meaning that Field will keep same Strength, regulated by ALL Three PSU's.

As, since we are powering independently ALL THREE Coils, then Balancing of Magnetic Field would be much easier.

NO TRANSITIONS WITH ALTERNATED DEAD TIMES WITH JUST ONE BRUSH

Hello All,

Again on this Three Coils Method, and specifically about the lately displayed Alternated Dead Times.

Originally I left untouched the Segmented Commutator where the Transitions were present every Air Gap, where Brush touched TWO ADJACENT Elements for Q1 & Q2, therefore, connecting this Two Coils in PARALLEL, and as consequence, dropping Resistance considerably, rising the Currents (Amps) to Double the value that just One Q Coil was receiving. Then I tried getting rid of these Transitions, using Three PSU's, and joining the Two Positives from PSU Q1 & PSU Q2 into ONE Terminal going to Slip Ring > Brush...

It does not work this way...

So, I tried using Two Brushes NOT SET AT 180 Degrees...BUT at a Closed Angle...like 130- 145 Deg...

Did not work either...

And so, I came up with previous design on the ALTERNATED Dead Spaced Times, that I presented on previous Two Posts.

However I was using TWO BRUSHES PLUS TWO SLIP RINGS.

• One Positive from PSU Q1 to Q1 Brush.
• Other Positive from PSU Q2 to Q2 Brush.

Then, after reviewing AGAIN, my previous Two Posts, I realized that NOW, I CAN ADD the Two Positives from the TWO PSU's to JUST ONE BRUSH!

Therefore, SAVING ME a LOT OF WORK and TIME!

My Mechanically Driven Rottary Switch is set now with just one brush at commutator and one slip ring brush mounted...So, in order to run the Two Brushes TEST I will have to take it apart completely, to install the Second Brush PLUS the Second Brush for the second slip ring...Besides that the arrangement of my Brush Housing is NOT SET AT 180 Degrees...

This Brush Housing used to mount Four Brushes...However, none of them are at Square (90º) Angles.

Then trying to avoid all this work and time on the Rotary switch...I came up with an even SIMPLER WAY to obtain the SAME EXACT RESULTS as TWO Brushes, Two Slip Rings would do: Using just ONE BRUSH, and ONE Slip Ring:

Above Diagram is showing just ONE PURPLE BRUSH (Why Purple?...Purple is the FUSION of Red + Blue) and One Slip Ring...This Single Brush will CARRY BOTH POSITIVES from the TWO PSU's for Q1 & Q2 Coils.

As the Circuit will work perfectly well with the TWO Positives JOINT at ONE BRUSH.

Any of the Two Positives ONLY will CLOSE THEIR CIRCUIT whenever it Connects with the Corresponding or MATING NEGATIVE connected to each Q Coils terminals, from their respective PSU.

Still would have the same Timing, Following Rotation Arrow R (CW):

• Q1 ON, Q3 ON.Q2 OFF (This Position shown on Diagram above)
• DEAD TIME: Q1+Q2 OFF, Q3 ON
• Q2 ON, Q3 ON, Q1 OFF

And so, it repeats again on the next Cycle.

This FINAL WAY to run this test, All I have to do, is to rearrange the Commutator External Circuit for:

1- Dual Attached Segments Adjacent to each other's, for each Two Q Coil having Transitions on Air Gaps.
2- Alternated Dead Time Segments/Elements with Single Element per each Q Coil (No Transitions)

So, basically it ALL consists on REMOVING ALL JUMPERS between each TWO Segments to have the Alternated Dead Times Tests...

Much simpler now to RESET Circuit from One Method to the other one...
